Nos dias 9 a 11 de dezembro será realizado na PUCPR, Curitiba, o Congresso Internacional de Matemática, Engenharia e Sociedade - ICMES2009. O ICMES2009 é um evento que irá reunir Matemáticos, Engenheiros, profissionais da Indústria e Educadores para realizar uma reflexão e o debate do ensino de matemática na engenharia face às novas realidades tecnológicas em um mundo cada vez mais complexo e globalizado. Desta forma, o evento se propõe a discutir os aspectos pedagógicos sobre o ensino da matemática de maneira a melhorar a transição do estudante entre ensino básico e médio para o curso de engenharia e também permitir uma reavaliação permanente do ensino de matemática na formação de engenheiro. O ICMES2009 faz parte do calendário oficial de comemorações do Ano da França no Brasil e é decorrência de uma forte iteração que vem ocorrendo a anos entre as universidades francesas e do estado do Paraná que participam de diversos programas de pesquisas e de interação universitária. Pessoas que desejam submeter trabalhos ou participar do evento poderão ter maiores informações pelo site: www/pucpr.br/icmes2009. O prazo para submissão de trabalhos foi prorrogado para o dia 30 de setembro.
 
Temas abordados
 Os principais temas relativos ao ICMES 2009 são listados abaixo:
1) ensino de matemática,do ensino médio à ao ensino superior
            -formalismo matemático
            -historia das técnicas matemáticas
            - didática e praticas pedagógicas e suas inovações
            -articulação entre o ensino médio e o superior
            -ensino a distância
 
2) a matemática e os novos desafios tecnológicos
        -relações entre ensino e pesquisa na
        -relações entre a engenharia e a matemática 
        -relações entre o engenheiro projetista e o engenheiro da inovação
        -epistemologia e ética
 
3) a matemática e as novas relações com a sociedade
         -matemática vida cotidiana
         -o poder da matemática
         -psicologia e cognição
         -inserção do  engenheiro no  mercado de trabalho
         -ethno matemática

Línguas Oficiais
Os artigos devem ser submetidos em Inglês, Francês, Português ou Espanhol. A apresentação oral pode ser em uma das quatro línguas oficiais, com as projeções em inglês.

Envio de trabalhos
 As instruções para a preparação dos trabalhos estão no site: www.pucpr.br/icmes2009. Junto com o artigo o autor deve enviar um resumo com no máximo 200 palavras descrevendo os objetivos, metodologia, resultados e conclusões. O resumo não deve conter equações nem figuras. O resumo e o artigo devem ser enviados por e-mail para o endereço: Este endereço de e-mail está protegido contra spam bots, pelo que o Javascript terá de estar activado para poder visualizar o endereço de email , no formato PDF. O resumo deve conter o título, autores, endereço de contato principal e tema do trabalho conforme lista de temas do evento.

Call for papers
The first International Congress of Mathematics, Engineering and Society –1rst ICMES 2009 will be an especial conference aimed to bring together Mathematicians, Engineers, Industry professionals and Educationalists interested in reflecting and discussing the mathematics on engineering, nowadays, facing up to new technological realities and societal challenges in a more complex and globalized world.
The conference will be focused on the links between mathematics, engineering and society and it will be biannual. In such a way, the conference will be a permanent forum to discuss the pedagogical, industrial and social aspects of mathematics on engineering curriculum and also to allow a permanent reevaluation of mathematics education.
Especially in its first edition the ICMES 2009 will officially occur in the year of France in Brazil celebration.
The purpose of the technical sessions is to report original work on Mathematics, Engineering and Society interactions. Authors wishing to present a paper should submit an abstract electronically, according to the conference instructions. When submitting a work, authors will be asked to identify the Symposium or Technical Sessions. Authors of accepted abstracts will be accordingly notified and invited to submit a full paper. Details of paper format will be posted in the congress homepage. All papers will be peer reviewed before a decision on their acceptance is given.
All papers accepted for presentation will be incorporated in a CD ROM Proceedings.
The conference will propose short courses, keynote lectures and round tables. Deadline for submission abstract and full lenght paper postponed to September 30, 2009

Official languages
Manuscripts may be submitted in English, French, Portuguese or Spanish. The presentation slides must be in English. The oral presentation must be in any one of the official languages.

Paper Submission
The corresponding abstract should describe the objectives, the methodology and the main conclusions in no more than 200 words. It should not contain either formulae or mathematical deductions.
